I think you all know about the BBC’s decision not to broadcast the Gaza Aid appeal. The Disasters Emergency Committee appeal hopes to raise millions of pounds for Palestinians suffering after Israel’s three-week bombardment of the region by airing the plea on television and radio from Monday but the BBC refused to air it claiming that showing the appeal by DEC – which brings together several major aid charities including the British Red Cross, Save the Children and Oxfam – might compromise its impartiality!!

We need to stop the BBC blocking Gaza aid appeal. Text the BBC at 037 00100212 or call 03700100222, or go to the BBC website and send an email…

We need to fill their inbox with outrage at their partial decision.

I just wrote them this brief feedback:

I urge the BBC to re-consider its decision of not broadcasting the charity appeal to help the people of Gaza. I think your decision has nothing to do with being impartial, as numerous International Organizations and UN agencies clearly stated the situation in the Strip to be a severe humanitarian crisis. The donations and contributions of the audience will go to well known and respected organizations like the Red Cross and Oxfam and therefore I don’t see why BBC’s impartiality or trustworthiness should be questioned, especially as it was part of previous humanitarian appeals. In fact, by choosing to reject this particular humanitarian appeal BBC is jeopardizing its neutrality and the professional image it created throughout years.

Its something I wrote quickly, feel free to copy and paste it or write a
better one if you like, maybe it would encourage a bigger number of people on this list and other lists to really send complaints.
